Who doesn’t love trains? While they might not be as popular as cars and planes for travel, they have a special place in the hearts of kids and kids-at-heart! That’s why the Cedar Rock Railroad Park showcases the glory days of train travel. The park is a short drive from Rio Bonito and fun for the whole family.
Old-fashioned locomotives are hard to find these days. But the park’s resident train, “Sophie”, lets you get a glimpse of the heyday of train travel. Sophie is a custom-built, quarter-scale train that uses locomotive technology. She takes visitors on a relaxing 1.4-mile ride through fields and forests.
But Sophie isn’t the only thing your family will love about Cedar Rock. Your kids can enjoy one of the play areas that are perfect for pretending. Kids can chase the bad guys through an old-fashioned Main Street or pretend to conduct a train like Sophie. Older kids even have the chance to take miniature locomotives for a spin.
You can purchase souvenirs and snacks at the “depot” and relax for a while at the picnic pads. To learn more about Cedar Rock Railroad and get ticket information and hours, visit their website here.
