While Texas may be famous for its bluebonnets in the springtime, there are many more wildflowers to enjoy. At the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center, you can explore and learn about native flowers and plants any time of the year. This botanical garden’s mission is to preserve and restore the natural beauty of Texas while inspiring a love of conservation.
The center’s 284 acres contains a mix of cultivated gardens, an arboretum, and managed natural areas and wildlands. More than 800 species of native Texas plants have been cultivated or grow there naturally. Because of the varied landscape, more than 143 species of birds and 15 species of mammals have been recorded at the center.
The Central Complex and Gardens feature iconic buildings nestled among gardens of native plants from across Texas. You can study native trees in the Texas Arboretum. You’ll love wandering over two miles of trails through the center. Don’t forget to bring the kids! They’ll enjoy the interactive exhibits in the Family Garden, such as mazes and water activities.
