The holiday season is wrapping up, but you can hold on to it just a little longer. Many homeowners and public installations keep the lights and decorations going through New Year’s Eve. If you haven’t been to a ticketed light installation, you should go! However, you can have just as much—if not more—fun exploring some of the downtown areas of nearby towns and cities. Each has put on their best Christmas finery to wow locals and visitors alike. Whether you head over to Leander, Cedar Park, or Georgetown, half the fun is just exploring!

Round Rock is a great example of a town going all out for the holidays. Its downtown area is brightly lit with larger-than-life pieces. You can stand inside a lighted ornament or use a present as a picture backdrop. You’ll look up in wonder at the thousands of lights decorating the Round Rock Water Tower. Whether you head to Centennial Plaza or Main Street Plaza, you’ll have a great time strolling past the displays. Stop at the businesses along the route for a drink or dessert and make a night of it! You can check out some pictures of the decorations here.
