No need to head to California to visit a winery and taste some great bottles. We’re lucky to have two great wineries within a short distance of Rio Bonito! Learn more about how to enjoy wine, taste some samples, and buy some bottles. Our local wineries make great stops during your stay with us.

The Thirsty Mule Winery and Vineyard is located right here in Liberty Hill, only two minutes from Rio Bonito. It boasts the only underground wine tasting bar in Texas! Located four feet underground inside a hillside, the tasting bar looks directly into the wine cave for a unique view. There’s also outside seating for enjoying a glass when the weather is nice. The Thirsty Mule is open Wednesday to Sunday, and no reservations are needed. For more information, check out their website here.

Also nearby is The Thirsty Mule’s sister, the Georgetown Winery. Georgetown produces wine from a family-run vineyard in Rockdale containing over 3,000 vines, such as Tempranillo, Cabernet, and Blanc du Bois, as well as from The Thirsty Mule’s vines. Georgetown Winery was the first winery in Williamson County, and the wine-making tradition in the family dates back to the late 1800s. They’re open daily and located on The Square in historic, downtown Georgetown. For more information, visit their website here.
